Fun Restaurants

Can anyone recommend any ';Fun and Vibrant'; restaurants Downtown?

Thanks

Fun Restaurants

While not ';downtown'; (it%26#39;s a few miles north on Monroe Dr.), Piebar fits the bill for ';Fun and Vibrant';. It%26#39;s pretty unique, both in it%26#39;s menu and architecture/decor and is a pretty popular gathering place for the young/urban/hip crowd.

Fun Restaurants

Downtown just doesn%26#39;t have much to offer by way of restaurants. There%26#39;s a Brazilian steakhouse - one of those all-you-can east places, right on Peachtree. I think it%26#39;s Fire of Brazil but maybe someone else on the board can confirm the name. Also, there%26#39;s B.E.D., which is in a gorgeous hotel and has great atmosphere and drinks, but although I haven%26#39;t eaten there yet I understand that the food is expensive and not very exciting. Near downtown is an excellent restaurant offering Thai cuisine called Spoon. That%26#39;s about all I can think of downtown.

If you%26#39;re willing to come to midtown, by MARTA or cab, there are a lot better options. My first choice for a great atmosphere with fun people watching and excellent food would be Two Urban Licks. I%26#39;ve been 6-7 times and I have generally had really enjoyable experiences there. They usually have live blues music. http://www.twourbanlicks.com/

Two%26#39;s Sister restaurant One Midtown Kitchen is also excellent, and its cuisine is probably more celebrated than that at Two. http://www.onemidtownkitchen.com/

I can personally recommend Taverna Plaka (a really fun Greek taverna with belly dancers, dancing on tables, etc.) or Loca Luna, which has tapas on a really unique patio with live Latin music. www.tavernaplakaatlanta.com

The Globe has excellent food in a sophisticated but fun atmosphere. www.globeatlanta.com

East of downtown in the Old Fourth Ward is Il Localino, an Italian restaurant whre they treat everyone like family, and turn on a disco ball to have everyone dance between courses. atlanta.citysearch.com/profile/11561589/

I am also a big fan of the Lobby at Twelve, which is located in Atlantic Station. The bar there is really hopping,a dn the food, especially the desserts, are really good. www.lobbyattwelve.com

Nuke44 recommended Piebar which I also enjoy. I don%26#39;t know if you%26#39;ll have kids, but I wouldn%26#39;t recommend taking them to several of these places. If you do let us know and i can offer revised recommendations.

I immediately thought of Loca Luna and eating outside but it it isn%26#39;t downtown as has been pointed out already. Sunday nights there is a live Cuban band or at least there was. Check out the website JAtlanta listed.

I guess fun and vibrant is all relative. For an unique place to go for a cheap meal with some fun and vibrant people watching, check out the Varsity. Depending on how long your visit will be, I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll be in the mood to try out this glorified hamburger/hot dog joint.

Thanks everyone so much. Great ideas!!!
