I%26#39;ve been reading the reviews on the hotels on Jekyll and they all seem dreadful! I%26#39;m looking for a nice hotel (price doesn%26#39;t matter) on the beach with a private balcony or patio, that%26#39;s it. I can%26#39;t decide just looking at the pictures on line and the reviews are just all bad. I%26#39;ll be there for one night only, April 11, 2009. Any suggestions, please! Thank you.
Nice hotel/beach view/balcony or patio
I doubt you will be able to find a room for the night of April 11 -- that is Easter weekend. We book our rooms for Holy Week months in advance. But for future reference, I highly recommend the Beachview Club. They have balcony rooms and patio rooms and are beach front, but from some of the rooms you cannot see the beach or water. The second story rooms would be your best bet to possibly see the water.
It is the nicest little hotel. Extremely friendly staff. The rooms are not large, but who needs to stay in your room when you are visiting Jekyll. The pool is heated -- a huge plus and the grounds are beautiful.
I read some of the recent reviews of the Beachview Club on Trip Advisor and was surprised at the reviews. People can be very critical. My husband thought it was a good thing to have some bad reviews so that we will not have trouble booking a room each year! This is our favorite place on Jekyll. It is not a luxury hotel, but it is very nice, clean and perfect for my normally picky family. If you are looking for more upscale, look at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel -- but it is not near the beach.
Nice hotel/beach view/balcony or patio
We did not care for the Beachview. It was not worth the price, its that simple. I admit, we%26#39;re a little picky when it comes to accomodations, but we don%26#39;t mind paying for quality. The room we had was poorly maintained and most of all it stank. All of the other hotels looked worse than the Beachview (except the Jekyll Island Club). The staff and service were both good. For one night, stay at the Jekyll Isand Club.
I would also recommend the Beachview Club too, but I do think they are booked. The Days Inn probably has rooms. The Villas by the Sea probably does too, but they are on the North end of the island where there is very little beach at high tide. There are rental cottages available but you will probably be tied into a 2-night minimum. Check the JekyllIsland.com website under accommodations. The realty companies are listed too. (Parker-Kaufman and Jekyll Realty). Good luck!
