I am wondering if anyone has any advice on the waves at tybee Island? Are the big enough to body surf and play in? I heard that once they get big enough to have fun with the current gets very dangerous. I have a 7-9-11 yr old and want to be able to spend the day at the beach playing in the water.

The waves do not get very big unless there is stormy weather farther out in the ocean. However, boogie boarding can be done for that age child anytime. There is usually a light surf going. It will depend a lot on the tides.

There is always a lot of people either boogie boarding or skimm boarding at Tybee. The waves may not be the biggest but the kids will love it.
