Visiting Savannah April 4 for a week

Hi, we will be in Savannah for a week. Any suggestions what we should do, how we spend our time, any good restaurants serving an authentic southern food and what we should not miss, etc...? We%26#39;ll be staying at Forsyth Park Carriage house.

Thank you.

Please spend a few momments reading the other posts. There are many people asking the same thing and you are bound to find someone that shares your special interests. We can only guess at what you like.

Mrs. Wilkes for lunch (only open for lunch) one day would give you an excellent taste of authentic southern food.

If you have a car, take time to drive out to Fort Pulaski. The view out to the ocean is fantastic. The grounds are also nice. Walk around the moat, you may see some alligators sunning.

I agree, search the things to do tab to your left or type a key word in the search box just above your post, and you will find a wealth of information. You can then whittle it down to more specific questions about things you have decided to visit. The possiblities are just too vast with what little information you have provided.

Thank you. I have one specific question, do most of the shops/restaurants accept credit card? Thanks.

Yes, all most restaurants accept major credit cards, except The Wilkes House (aka Mrs. Wilkes) and Vinnie Van Go-Go...both are cash only.

I higly recommend that you have dinner at Mrs. Wilkes, to taste a true Savannah flavor. Arrive by 10:30a.m. for the first seating at 11a.m. ---this way you%26#39;ll be among the first to be seated and won%26#39;t need such a big supper later that night.

Dinner is the word we still use for .....lunch.

Thanks. we%26#39;d like to experience and taste anything southern/typical Savannah things. We had planned to visit last August, but heard that it%26#39;d be too hot and uncomfortable to tour during the day so we went north instead. Do you think we will still be able to enjoy the azeleas blooming the first week of April?

The azaleas have been blooming for a while. Some are looking past their prime but you should be able to see some throughout the city. If we get the heavy rains that are predicted for tonight and tomorrow, it will knock a lot of the flowers down.
