Getting around Atlanta - Public Transportation

Hi, I am visiting Atlanta for the 1st time with a few friends in June. We will be staying at a hotel in either downtown or midtown. We will be attending 2 Red Sox/Braves game, can we get around without renting a car, how is the public transportation in Atlanta? I dont mind taking cabs bu I do not want to run up crazy cab fares either. We would like to do some sightseeing but I would imagine we will be spending most of our time going to the games and going out to eat/bars/nightlife after the games. I would appreciate any help that you can provide. Thank you........

Getting around Atlanta - Public Transportation

Hi, Bob. Public transportation isn%26#39;t bad in Atlanta, per se, but there are some places it just doesn%26#39;t cover well.

The MARTA trains will get you to the games just fine. You can take MARTA to the Five Points station and take the Braves Shuttle to the Ted. So that%26#39;s pretty easy.

If you end up staying in Midtown (which, frankly, has more options in terms of nightlife/bars), you should be fine. The MARTA train stations are fairly close together. So if you wanted to dine at some of the good restaurants on Crescent or over on Juniper, you can probably walk from a station.

Some areas like the Virginia-Highlands are not close to the MARTA train and I know zip about the bus service. You%26#39;d probably want to take a cab if you wanted to head over there.
