Cowboys/Atlanta football game

Hello. I know this is a little premature but I know the Dallas Cowboys will be playing in Atlanta this year and we would love to go. (We are from Charlotte NC). Neither of us have ever been to Atlanta, so I need some advice on where to stay that is close to the Stadium. (w/ in walking distance if possible). Thanks for any advice or info, as I am clueless!

Go ahead and get your tickets as soon as possible, as Falcon tickets have been a hot item since the start of the Arthur Blank/Michael Vick era.

The Omni Hotel at CNN center comes highly reccommended and is within easy walking distance of the Georgia Dome.

Individual tickets are tough to get in Atlanta so if you can get them through the Dallas box office you should try. Every downtown hotel is fairly close to the Dome, but you may prefer to stay in midtown and take MARTA.

I have heard they are tough to get. They are here too w/ the Carolina Panthers, I think single game tickets were sold out w/ in 18 minutes last year. I have checked the Falcons website and they are not on sale yet, so I will stay on top of it. Thanks for the hotel suggestions, Omni seems a little pricey but per the reviews some people have gotten great discounts w/ priceline.com. Is the Downtown area a good area to be in? Is there restaurants and bars that we could walk too (safely). Thanks! :)

Downtown is OK, but doesn%26#39;t have much or a nightlife or restaurant scene. Count on encountering panhandlers, but I am there several days a week and see hordes of tourists and families everywhere. It%26#39;s a safe enough area to stay and convenient to the Ga. Dome, but other than tourist attractions there%26#39;s not much there. If it were me I would stay in midtown, which has a huge range of nightlife (from Irish pubs to Miami-style lounges to dance clubs to sports bars) and hundreds of restaurants.

I agree on using Priceline - I think you usually get a very good deal in a nice hotel. Hotels in midtown are within walking distance of a MARTA station, and there are two MARTA stops that let off right at the Ga. Dome, so it%26#39;s ideal for Falcons games.

Midtown does sound like more our style, but I have a dumb question, (really dumb), what is the marta?? Any suggestions on hotels in midtown close to this? I know it is a broad question, but just if any came to mind. Thanks again!

Ditto on Midtown. There is a hotel in Midtown that I always recommend (Because it%26#39;s the only one my wife and I have stayed at over the last few years), The Residence Inn at Peachtree St. and 17th St.. It%26#39;s a very nice hotel, not too pricey, and located within easy walking distance of Piedmont Park, the Fox Theatre, the High Museum, and many nice restaurants and bistro/clubs. It is also a couple of minute walk to a north/south line MARTA rail station.

P.S. MARTA is the public transportation system (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority). It consists of rapid rail and buses. If you stay in Midtown you would primarily be concerned with the rail. You would probably use the Midtown station. You go south to the Five Points Station where you transfer to the MARTA Braves shuttle bus.

MARTA = Metro Atlanta Transit Authority. It is the bus/rail system that purports to be Atlanta%26#39;s mass transit system. Generally, nobody uses the buses and when we speak of MARTA we mean the train line. It runs north/south and east/west from downtown. It is generally a safe (except for late night) and convenient form of transportation, but because Atlanta is so spread out (and mismanaged) there are some places it does not reach. It%26#39;s perfect, though, if you want to concentrate in midtown, downtown, or shopping in Buckhead. Also, you can take MARTA into town from the airport which is very convenient and saves mucho dinero on cab fare.

Oops, I had Braves on my mind. For the Falcons game, go south to Five Points. Go up one level and catch the westbound train one stop. You will exit the station right at Phillips Arena and the Georgai Dome.

Oops! I meant Metro Atlanta RAPID Transit Authority. Perhaps the slip was freudian.
