Going to St. Simons next wk!

Hi all! We are going to SSI for our first time, and we are so excited! We will be staying at the King %26amp; Prince Resort. I have read all of the posts here and was wondering if someone could add more? Like...what should we NOT miss? We will only be there 4 days so I want to make sure we do, see, and eat at the best! (not meaning price-wise) Our kids are 16 and 14. Thank you in advance for any info!!

excellent choice. the king and prince will shower you with hospitality. i wouldn%26#39;t miss their sunday buffet. eat some crab cakes at barbara jeans and try breakfast one day at dresners in the village and the next at the 4th of may and let us know which you prefer. read about bennie%26#39;s red barn here and else where and by all means go for a visit and a steak. go to the docks in brunswick for fresh shrimp to boil. i envy you, have a great time an enjoy your visit. one evening as the sun gets low have a martini at j macs.

Well, thank you bbqman for all of your recommendations! We had a glorious time on our trip to SSI!! We did not want to come home! I just don%26#39;t know why it took us so long to find out about this beautiful island! The weather was just gorgeous! And The King %26amp; Prince is worth every penny!! We enjoyed dining at Brogans (great lunch!), Barbara Jeans (you were right about those crabcakes!), Yum Yum Shoppe (ok...daughter wanted to go there), Moondoggies (such a cute place and good too!) then ice cream in the pier area...I think it was Riverrafter?? Does that sound right?, The Crab Trap (the cajun shrimp was da bomb!) The K%26amp;P (yummy), The Beachcomber (best bbq sandwich I ever had!) I liked the 4th of May best for breakfast! Uhm...yes, we rode the bikes over 20 miles to make us feel a little better about eating so much good food! :) I sure wish I was at SSI today! I miss it and we will definitely go back! Again, ty bbqman and to everyone else for your contributions to this board, it sure helps a newcomer! Have a great day!!

next visit plan on going out to village creek landing to the fish camp. turn right at bennies red barn adn dead end into the march. seafood so fresh it%26#39;s alive when it comes in the door. very casual, very, very cold beer!

thank you for the kind words. i%26#39;m glad you enjoyed your trip.

Village Creek Landing has closed and is only open now for private parties. The rest of your suggestions were right on... especially Beachcomber BBQ! Try their Brunswick Stew. WOW!

please don;t tell me that!!!!!! i was just gearing up for that marsh fresh sweet shrimp. well then the only thing to do is get a bunch together and rent the place. it%26#39;s that good!

yes, beachcomber bbq is one of my state wide favorites...it%26#39;s the onliest bbq on the island. no shirt , no shoes, no problem. i have the tee shirt.
