Your best bet is one of the chain hotels on Bay Street. They will put you right in the middle of things. They are The Hampton Inn, The Garden Hotel or The Double Tree.

There is also the new Hampton Suites at MLK and Oglethorpe, which is pretty close.

The Westin is across the river but there is a ferry every 20 minutes or so.

There are others try to be close to Bull and Bay streets, that puts you in the middle of things.

Here is a map of downtown:

brian, thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I will definitely check out yoru recommendations. We have never been to Savannah and we will only have one day and night so if there are any MUST SEES, let me know ,Thanks again.

A lot will depend on when you come. The few days before and after the March 17th St Patricks Day Parade and Party will be full of action. BUT, the hotels near where the action is, will not be moderatly priced during that time. We usually expect from 200,000 to 300, 000 extra people for the parade and the big party time afterwards.. You would need to start thinking about your room months before if that%26#39;s when you want to come.

Spring is the big tourist season as that is when the parks of full of blooming azaleas. The entire Historic District is something that must be seen. It%26#39;s about one mile long, starting at the Savannah River. As to what to do for your teens, a lot will depend on how old and which gender. That is, a 13 year old boy, will love Fort Pulaski, but a 19 year old girl might prefer shopping on River Street. Are they interested in History? They will have to be 21 to go into a bar.

More moderate accomodations can be found in the Midtown area which is only about a 5 mile easy drive from the Historic District.
