I am planning to relocate to Atlanta from Michigan. I%26#39;m looking for suggestions on areas to look for a new home. I have two elementary age children, so quality school system is important. I%26#39;m looking for a family neighborhood (lots of kids to play), preferrably a newer home (5 years or less) in a swim/tennis community in the $200k or under range. Any suggestions on either specific neighborhoods, or areas would be appreciated.
Visiting ATL April 12-15 relocating from MIThis is a very broad question and will probably be shut down by the forum administrator because it is not travel related. They%26#39;re pretty quick on the draw about doing that. I would encourage you to enter search terms like schools, moving, relocating, etc., to see previous discussion on this topic. Also, you do not want to pick an area to live before you know where you%26#39;ll be working.
Visiting ATL April 12-15 relocating from MITo meet all your criteria, you would have to live OTP (outside the perimeter, I-285 the highway that encircles Atlanta). South of Atlanta, there is Fayette county with some nice communities. Northwest of Atlanta there is Forsyth, Cherokee, and Dawson counties. But if schools are your top priority I can recommend the town I live in, Jefferson, which is in Jackson county about an hour north of Atlanta on I-85. Jefferson schools are some of the best public schools in Georgia, especially Jefferson Highschool, which has had the top S.A.T scores in the state and the highest college acceptance rates for the last several years in a row. In Jackson county there are several swim/tennis communities in your price range.
I would suggest renting for a couple of months to get to know the different areas. May have to pay a little more not to have a long lease but in the end I think it%26#39;d be worth it. We moved to GA a yr. ago and bought a house before moving, would rent if we move again, gives you time to see more neighborhoods. Look at greatschools.net to compare schools. Good luck!
Hi, I am too relocating to the Atlanta area. I recieved a BIG relo package from a wonderful realtor named Jim Bulla. I would suggest requesting a relo package from him. His packages are full of great info that will definitely help. I personally really like the Northern part of the Metro Atlanta area. Here is his info if you would like to get a package from him.
