Best Fried Chicken

Deacon Burtons off Edgewood Ave. in Atlanta had what Life magazine called America%26#39;s Best Fried Chicken once upon a time. That was sometime back though. The best I%26#39;ve had in 2006 comes from an unlikely out of the way spot in Flowery Branch Ga.- Nichols Diner. I know there are lots of others equally as deserviing. What%26#39;s yours?

Best Fried Chicken

I hear Deacon Burton%26#39;s getting talked up a lot. I%26#39;ll have to check that out, BBQ.

I think for me, it%26#39;s the fried chicken at the Colonnade. It really is top notch. My mouth starts watering just thinking about it. Not to mention all the good sides/rolls that accompany it. After that, I%26#39;d vote for the fried chicken at Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle. Well worth the drive in my book.

Here%26#39;s one for you. Best fast food fried chicken? I vote for Church%26#39;s. If I really get a craving for fried chicken in a hurry, that%26#39;s where I head.

Best Fried Chicken

we have had the debate at our house too,and popeyes wins most of the time.

While it%26#39;s just over the TN line....we%26#39;ve been going there since I was a kid. Beas in Chattanooga TN is 50+ years old and has some of the best fried chicken I%26#39;ve ever had. I remember going with my grandparents many years ago on weekends. The line was always out the door to get seated. It%26#39;s served family style on lazy susan tables. Same basic items are served every day....the cobblers change daily but most of the other stuff is the same.

I remember years ago when ';Granny'; still worked there.....in ';Granny%26#39;s Corner';. She%26#39;d give you some attitude but it was all done in love. She%26#39;d always bring my grandfather his own tray of cold pulley bone chicken....cause that%26#39;s how he liked it. Of course he%26#39;d always get some abuse from granny.....but it was expected and part of the experience.

Without a doubt, my favorite fried chicken is at Greenwood%26#39;s on Green Street in Roswell. Okay, it%26#39;s true, the wait could be long and they don%26#39;t take credit cards but, Bill Greenwood%26#39;s fried chicken is worth every inconvenience you could think of. Incredible.

Take I-20 to Social Circle and exit to the Blue Willow Inn. Best fried chicken AND fried green tomatoes.

The Davis House about a block off the square in Ellijay has a fried chicken recipe that%26#39;d make the Colonel glad the war was over.

I haven%26#39;t tried the Davis house, but my favorite fried chicken by leaps and bounds is at Sue%26#39;s Log Cabin on hwy 282 in Ellijay.

thanks queen, i%26#39;m heading over that way next time i am up yonder by leaps and bounds.

it%26#39;s not the crispiest i ever had. it%26#39;s not battered to perfection. it%26#39;s not even the featured menu item. in fact i don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s seasoned with anything more than salt and pepper. maybe they soak it in buttermilk. i don%26#39;t know for sure. all i know is that whatever THE DILLARD HOUSE up in dillard ga. does do to their fried chicken i hope they continue doing for a long long while. it reminds me of the way momma used to make it.

The Dillard House has THE BEST CATFISH this side of the Mississippi. Oh my it%26#39;s so yummy. The only problem with the Dillard House Dining Room is that they give you waaaaaayyyyy too much food.
