Traffic on 285 in Atlanta

I will be traveling to area east of 400 south of 285. Is it best to travel towards that area on 285 west to east or east to west at around 7:30-8AM during the week. Thanks

I think both directions with be equally congested, but would speculate that westbound traffic would be lighter. You should just plan on topping out at about 30-35 miles per hour and give yourself some extra time. Where are you coming from?

Explore alternate routes and consider avoiding I-285 altogether, if possible. Especially at that time of day. Ten years ago I made an oath to myself to avoid I-285 at all times, unless it was a case of life or death. I have not been on I-285 in all that time and my life has been better for it.

Its bumper to bumper and probably nearly stopped that time of the morning.

i made that same vow, to stay off of 285, about 20 years ago. to date with the exception of one presidential visit a bush ago, i%26#39;ve kept the faith too. sage advice if it%26#39;s doable. good luck!
