Evening music on Jekyll?

This may be a longshot but does anyone know if there%26#39;s any place on Jekyll Island to go on a Saturday or Sunday evening to listen to music and maybe wiggle around a dance floor? We%26#39;ll be at the Days Inn for the first weekend in April and us Baby Boomers would love to do something after dinner. Thanks

Evening music on Jekyll?

Hi Karrieb,

Things are quiet on Jekyll Island unless they are having a festival weekend which are great. I don%26#39;t think that is the case when you are there but go to www.jekyllisland.com to check out events when you are there. The next island north of you St Simons Island, has dancing on the weekends. Check out Ziggy Mahoney%26#39;s at the Retreat Shopping Center as well as Benny%26#39;s Red Barn. There is a terrific brunch at the Jekyll Island Club on Sundays with a piano player but that%26#39;s all I can think of. Have a great stay.

Not sure when they start this, but during the summer there is a live jazz band at the Lighthouse on St. Simons Island on Saturday nights. Maybe give the Chamber of Commerce a call, they might could tell you when it starts. My grandmother lives there and we always go when we are there. People usually bring picnics...it%26#39;s fun.

Thanks for the suggestions and it sounds like we need to check out St Simons Island. How far is that island from Jekyll? I do have some maps but not local maps so I wonder how long it%26#39;ll take us to drive from one island to the other. Under an hour? Good signage along the way?

The drive to St. Simons isn%26#39;t bad at all. If there were a bridge between the two islands it would be five minutes. You need to drive off Jekyll Island turn right on Rt. 17, go over the Lanier bridge. Up ahead you will see signs (on the right) for the FJ Torres Parkway. Also signs will be posted for St Simons. It should take you about 35 minutes. Ziggy Mahoneys has a website: www.ziggymahoneys.com. They have directions on there as well. They are the closest for you to go dancing. Jekyll Island has great biking and walking, great history and super beaches. I hope you have a great time
