Hotel in Savannah -- Mansion on Forsyth or Avia?

I%26#39;ll be visiting Savannah for two nights in early April and am wondering whether to book my stay at the Mansion on Forsyth or Avia. Any suggestions/thoughts?

It looks like Avia is more central to the historic area with easy walking access to the sights. Is there still construction going on in Ellis Square?

Some folks seem to complain about street noise at Mansion on Forsyth -- is that still the case?

I%26#39;ll have a rental car so which one is easier to park at or is there any free parking nearby?

Both have their own parking so that is not an issue.

They are working on Ellis square but up to now just hauling in dirt. Don%26#39;t know what will be going on in April but it will be something.

The street noise at the mansion is a constant, it is on Drayton Street, the one way everyone uses to get downtown in the morning and it is just generally a busy road. If you got a room off Drayton, it shouldn%26#39;t be an issue.

If you like to walk and find Forsyth park interesting, stay at the mansion. You can always grab a cab or pedi-cab back at night if you don%26#39;t feel up to the walk.

If you want to be in the middle of things and always just a few blocks from your room, stay at the Avia.

Thanks for the info!
