Ritz Carlton- Atlanta (downtown)...

Is there great shopping within a short walking distance of the Ritz downtown?

Ritz Carlton- Atlanta (downtown)...

Not really. Downtown is mostly offices, hotels, and tourist attractions, with a certain number of restaurants to serve the business, convention, and tourist traffic. However, the Ritz-Carlton is next to the Peachtree Center MARTA station, which makes it quite easy to get to both Midtown and Buckhead, which each have quite a bit more to offer shopping-wise. Buckhead is probably still the best place for a wide range of shopping destinations, having two major malls (Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza) within a short walk of the Lenox MARTA station, as well as many smaller boutiques and such nearby (some of which are more easily accessed from the Buckhead MARTA station). There is a free shuttle bus service called the BUC that makes a regular circuit through the Buckhead area during business hours (http://www.bucride.com).

Midtown is still developing as a shopping area, but is generally newer/trendier than Buckhead, and the shopping areas there are easily reached from the North Avenue, Midtown, and Arts Center MARTA station.

If you have questions about specific types of stores, I%26#39;m sure any number of regular posters can offer suggestions.

I agree with rackensack, there%26#39;s not much shopping in Downtown Atlanta. A place I sometimes forget, and perhaps some Atlantans might overlook is Atlantic Station. It%26#39;s close to Midtown, and you can get there via MARTA (get off at Arts Center, and take the Atlantic Station shuttle). It%26#39;s an outdoor mall with Dillard%26#39;s, Banana Republic, West Elm, a movie theater, and various restaurants. It%26#39;s totally walkable, and if you have a car, there%26#39;s plenty of deck parking.

Ditto. There is no shopping worth speaking of in that area. Why not stay at the Ritz in Buckhead, which is steps away from Atlanta%26#39;s best shopping options. www.buckhead.org

Re:Atlantic Station, I live nearby and spend a lot of time there because it is convenient. However, it has very little, other than restaurants, that you cannot find in every shopping center in every suburb in the US: Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Bath %26amp; Body Works, etc. I would go somewhere with more unique options if I were visiting another city.
