PLEASE READ ASAP: Oglethorpe vs. Old Savannah Tours

We will be in Savannah this Wednesday. We are hoping to see the city with a historical on-off tour bus. Between ';Old Savannah Tours'; and the ';Oglethorpe Trolley Tours';, which do you recommend? We really want something that hits the historical highlights.

thanks!

They both cover the same territory, with the same facts. It%26#39;s going to depend a lot on which guide you get. Some are more entertaining than the others.

I think, both last about 90 minutes. Afterwards, if you have time, you can walk back to what really interested you.

Yes it does depend on the guide you get. We went with the cheapest option and were glad we did. We learned a lot, and then after the tour we went and did the stuff that looked interesting. Every tour, restaurant, person you meet in Savannah will give you more information. I thought we would use the on off bus stuff, but we didn%26#39;t need it at all. The area you want to be in is so small, you can easily walk everywhere. We found it took longer to wait for the bus than to just walk, and in walking we would find more interesting things.

Thanks so much!

The 3 major tour companies: Old Savannah Tours, Old Town Trolley and Oglethorpe Tours run the same routes throughout the historic district (downtown). Oglethorpe Tours charges $10 per tour whilst the other 2 outfits charge more.

It all comes down to your tour guide....at that level, the name of the company doesn%26#39;t really matter. Your tour guide is the one who will leave the most lasting impression on you, not the color of the trolley.

You might get a fantastic guide who is on the top of his or her game that day or you may end up with a loser, and an hour later things can go the other way. Some tour guides have worked at all three companies.
