Baggage on connecting flights

We%26#39;re flying from Heathrow to Newark then down to Savannah in about 3 weeks time.

I realise we have to collect our baggage at Newark and wait for the connection to Savannah but will we have to do the same at Charlotte (we change planes there) or will the baggage be checked right on through to Savannah.
