Perimeter area a nice clean hotel?

Looking to stay in this area May 1st can anyone tell me about this area. Looking to go to Stone Mt one day and explore the area another looking for a happy med. outside the city. Were are staying at the hampton Inn College Park for 2 nights and going into town to the convention center then renting a car for 3 days to go exploring so any other suggestions would be greatly appreicatied. So i guess what i%26#39;m asking should we just stay at that hotel or look elsewhere after we do the convention things or just use the hotel for our base? I hope i didn%26#39;t confuse you because i think i confused myself. :)

I wouldn%26#39;t use College Park as your base for touring. If you%26#39;ll have a car (or a Harley (-:) and you%26#39;ll be spending at least a full day at Stone Mountain, the Evergreen Marriott would be a great place. If you want Perimeter, I can%26#39;t recommend anything from personal experience. There%26#39;s a Renaissance and a W hotel. Try Priceline if you are comfortable with their policies. You can get educated on Priceline at www.biddingfortravel.com.

Perimeter area a nice clean hotel?

I%26#39;ve stayed in the Perimeter area a few times and we%26#39;ll be going again during spring break, we got a $45 dollar rate on hotwire for the Hyatt there.(just pick 3 star hotel in perimeter)

The area is your typical business office/mall/chain stores/movie theater area, that is fairly safe for a visitor to stay in and not all that far from everything. I think we may try the Marta on one of our days there, they have free parking if you don%26#39;t want to walk from your hotel.

If you stay there make sure to eat at la Madeleine french restaurant and bakery. The first time we did it became a must do everytime we came to Atlanta.

I think you are slightly confused; ';the perimeter area'; is a specific area in atlanta, I think you are referring to all of I-285 when you say the ';perimeter area';. THe perimeter area is actually at the intersection of Ashford Dunwoody and I-285 (north end of atl near GA 400). You do not want to stay in college park. If most of your activities will be based at stone mtn, i would stay in the park or east of the park along Hwy 78 towards snellville. If you choose to stay at the true perimeter area, it is a good area, but a few miles from stone mtn, and it will put you in the worst area for traffic jams during rush hours.

My understanding is that you%26#39;re staying in College Park near the airport for your convention on the first few days, and then want to switch to another part of town to base your touring for the rest of the trip. If that%26#39;s correct, then the Perimeter area will be fine. It has good MARTA access for you to be able to get into downtown, midtown and Buckhead, and is generally a safer, less expensive alternative to staying in the city.

As long as you avoid driving to and from Stone Mountain between 7-9am and 4:30-7 pm, you shouldn%26#39;t have major traffic concerns. It can get heavy, and you may have some delays, but it%26#39;s not unmanageable.

As for the days of your conference, College Park really doesn%26#39;t have much to offer, and you won%26#39;t want to venture too far from your hotel because that area, like most areas near most airports, is pretty sketchy. There are some exceptions, but it%26#39;s not really a place you%26#39;ll enjoy staying. If you%26#39;re locked in, though, because of your conference, hopefully your hotel will provide a shuttle to MARTA so that you can easily get into the city for shopping, dining, nightlife, parks, sights, etc.

I was looking to stay near Stone Mt but the resort i was looking into was very expensive Do you have any other suggestions for a hotel about a 3 or 4 star with a pool. As for going into any nearby town or surrounding area to site see we will deside at that time depending on how we feel that day. We like driving around and seeing the scenery. I looked at alot of hotels in the area and so many mixed reviews on them all . Thanks in advance for all your suggestions Dallas1

I am not sure I understand what advice you%26#39;re asking us to provide. Do you want a hotel recommendation in the perimeter area? A hotel at Stone Mountain? A neighborhood recommendation? If you will be more specific perhaps we can be more helpful.

To the extent that you%26#39;re asking about hotels in Stone Mountain, other than the Evergreen resort and Stone Mountain Park, there%26#39;s no reason to be in Stone Mtn and frankly there are a lot of seedy areas in Stone Mtn. If not staying at Evergreen, pick a different area of Atlanta and just drive to Stone Mtn for the day.

Dallas:

JAtlanta is right. If you want to stay by Stone Mountain the only real option is the Evergreen which is a really nice place.

If you want to hit some of the other popular areas, like the Aquarium, Coca Cola City, the Olympic parks--they are all downtown and you can probably find a deal at a nice hotel down there. You can also go from there to Stone Mountain or other place pretty quickly--just avoid the rush hour times during the week.

The Perimeter area or Buckhead would also have some options. Or.....if I was you, I would stop by the aquarium and then head to the North Georgia Mountains for a few days.

What area is the North Georgia Mts. So i can look for hotels in that area. My husband told me tonight he like to go farther out of town then i thought So i%26#39;m thinking maybe a hr or so Thanks again

There are several areas you can look into. Blue Ridge or Blairsville would not be a bad drive You could head to Rabun County or just across the border into North Carolina around Highlands or Franklin.

We usually stay at bed and breakfasts or rent a cabin when we go. Check out those areas and if you want a B%26amp;B suggestion, I would be happy to give you one depending on which area you like.

Not trying to sound like a smarty-pants, but you really have to narrow down what you want for us to be able to help you. All of north ga is somewhat mountainous. There are some really nice lodges at the state parks, and nice B%26amp;Bs all over. Maybe if you tell us what you want to accomplish or see, we might be able to point you in a specific direction or town.
