we are coming in from chicago and have 45 minute layover. need to catch international flight to punta cana. we know that will be in concourse e but do not know what what concourse we will land in? was told you can not walk it need to take the people mover? what is this? and is this right? how do we go about this? the airport web site did not explain well. so help me!!!! leaving oin the 18 of march. twinner

I would use the people mover. It is an underground train. Very easy to use.

Which airline are you arriving into ATL on?

If it%26#39;s Delta, and your flight number is three digits or is a four-digit number beginning in a ';1';, you%26#39;ll most likely be arriving on Concourse A or B or the T Gates. If it%26#39;s Delta with a four-digit flight number with the first digit being anything but a ';1';, you%26#39;ll most likely be arriving on Concourse C or D.

If it%26#39;s AirTran, it could be arriving on either C or D.

If it%26#39;s any other airline, the odds are very good it%26#39;ll be arriving on Concourse D.

The only real difference, from your perspective, is the distance to Concourse E -- the T Gates are farthest away, followed in order by A, B, C, and D. From any of them, after you deplane follow the signs to Concourse E -- this will take you to the center of your arrival concourse, where you%26#39;ll take the escalator down to the Transportation Mall. On this level, there is a train system that runs between all of the concourses, as well as a ';moving sidewalk'; system (horizontal escalator). Take the train. As long as you followed the signs pointing you to Concourse E, you%26#39;ll be fine. If you somehow find that the train you%26#39;re on is heading away from Concourse E and toward Baggage Claim and Ground Transportation, get off, turn left off the train and walk past the escalators -- that will take you to the boarding point for the train heading the other way. It%26#39;s really easier to do than it sounds to describe.

Forty-five minutes is a pretty tight connection unless by some miracle your inbound flight arrives on Concourse E. No reason to panic, but don%26#39;t dawdle along the way either.

45 minutes is a tight connection if the plane you are coming in on is late. Last Sunday night that happened to friends coming in from Tuscon trying to make a connecting flight on to Pittsburgh. They didn%26#39;t make it and had to take a flight the next morning to Cinncinati and then on to Pittsburgh. This was a Delta flight also. Hope this doesn%26#39;t scare you but trying to be realistic. We fly often and you need to know what your options are!!

International flights often start boarding about 30-40 minutes before departure time, so definitely follow the earlier advice not to dawdle. Don%26#39;t get too stressed, though, as your gate agent will know that you%26#39;re connecting from another Delta flight, and they%26#39;ll be watching for you.

Definitely take the train between concourses. It runs every 90 seconds.

Don%26#39;t worry about getting lost. The signage at the airport is abundant and very clear.

If your initial flight is delayed, ask your flight attendant to radio ahead to the gate agent for your DR flight to let them know you%26#39;re on your way. In a case like this where there are only one or two flights a day to your ultimate destination, they%26#39;ll usually hold the second flight a little bit to wait for you.
