Casino

Can someone tell me if there are casinos in Atlanta? Or how close by one might be. Thank you!

Casino

No, no casinos anywhere in Georgia. The closest would be the tribal casinos in North Carolina. (Cherokee, NC) After that would be Mississipi, but most of those are (were?) along the coast and I don%26#39;t know how far along they come in recovering from Katrina. Both South Carolina and Florida have casino cruise ships that leave port and the gambling starts once they reach a certain distance from shore.

I tell you, a casino or two in Underground Atlanta could sure turn that place around. It would bring in tons of out of town money and the people who own and run casinos don%26#39;t put up with cr*p from the undesireable elements that currently make Underground a less than desireable destination.

We drove through the area last weekend during the day. My husband likes to drive up Peachtree once in a while. We said we won%26#39;t be doing that again. I felt like we were in a third world country. People were crossing against the light and looking at us like they dared us to honk or act annoyed. It was unnerving. There are large groups of panhandlers just hanging out.

brunswick has these casino cruises ships docked near the shrimp boats too. appraently 3 miles out asns any thing goes. st simons has a pavaillion called the casino but gambling goes on there.

reinarubia, it kind of makes you think that the Georgia legislature had the right idea when they enacted the new law, defining the rights of a law abiding citizen to use deadly force in self defense if they reasonably fear serious bodily harm and/or death at the hands of some thug(s). The law also states it is legal to use deadly force in order to protect someone else from the same threats. Opponents to this law to the contrary, it has been effective in lowering crime rates in the dozen or so states where similar laws are already in effect.

Commissioner Robb Pitts is trying to push a measure to put a casino in underground, both to revitalize the area and put money into city coffers. While the idea of a casino would be fun, I do not think that the people who would be spending money there would necessarily be the type people who can afford to lose money. It sounds to me like a recipe to put more people on welfare. I hope I%26#39;m wrong, though, because I love doing a little gambling.

it%26#39;s a good thing i was lucky in love for i am a terrible gambler

A casino in Underground would be fine as long as it didn%26#39;t turn out like the ';upscale'; horse track%26lt;now low end dog track%26gt; in Birmingham AL. Slot machine land %26lt;er...Cherokee NC%26gt; isn%26#39;t much better to imitate.

I have to admit a fondness for casinos. My wife won%26#39;t let me lose any more than we can afford to lose and I%26#39;ve actually been pretty lucky. Three years ago in Aruba, I hit a royal flush on a $20 bet, playing video poker and walked away with $16,000 in crisp U.S. $100 bills.
