Itinerary suggestions

I will be on a connecting flight in Atlanta, and will have the option of scheduling a day or two as a stopover. Would this be enough to get a good overview of the city? What would be a good itinerary to go with? I see that the aquarium is a must see, along with the CNN building and World of Coca Cola. Sorry if the questions sound vague, I did a search and wasn%26#39;t able to come up with much.

We%26#39;re in our mid 20%26#39;s, and mostly interested in sightseeing.

Itinerary suggestions

You would definitely see the sites you have mentioned in a day or two. They%26#39;re all very close to each other downtown and you wouldn%26#39;t have to rent a car. You can use MARTA. If you stayed in Midtown (nicer than downtown and more restaurants), you could also walk over to Piedmont Park.

Other fun places to visit would be Fernbank Natural History Museum, Martin Luther King Jr. Center/national historic site, Zoo Atlanta, the Carter Center and the High Museum of Art. You%26#39;d have to take a cab/bus to get to these, except for the High Museum.

Thanks. If we wanted to fit in an extra day, could we visit Stone Mountain, go to the North Georgia Premium outlets, and make it back to the ATL airport by 6PM?

Wow, cramming those two into one day and making it to the airport in time to get through security (and possibly drop off a car) would be a challenge. Depending on where you stay, it%26#39;s about a 40-minute drive up Ga. 400 to the Outlets. And there%26#39;s a lot to see there. It would probably take you an hour (at least) to get from there over to Stone Mountain. That doesn%26#39;t leave much time because you%26#39;d want to get to the airport at a decent time. Add in Atlanta rush hour traffic and it gets worse.

I%26#39;d pick one and stick with it to really enjoy the day.

I would skip the outlets and do the sightseeing. You can go shopping anywhere. I have an outlet mall near me and don%26#39;t find that many bargains worth spending a day of vacation for.

Thanks again, we%26#39;ll cut one of them out. This is just a case of me wanting to go sightseeing, and the girlfriend wants to go shopping :)

If you want to take her shopping on the cheap, take her to Filene%26#39;s Basement in Buckhead.

Filene%26#39;s is an excellent suggestion. Loehmann%26#39;s also has marked-down designer clothing.
