good restaurant near fox theatre

I will be in Atlanta for spring break and have reservations for Stomp in Fox theatre next Friday with my two sons aged 10 and 12. They are very adventurous eaters and accustomed to more sophisticated dining. We were needing recommendations for restaurants near Fox theatre for pre whow dining.

Will you have a car or do you need a restaurant so close that you can walk to it?

A couple of blocks down from the Fox, still on Peachtree is Mick%26#39;s. It%26#39;s casual, but good. About two doors down from Mick%26#39;s is The Peasant. It%26#39;s more upscale than Mick%26#39;s Both of these are across the street from Crawford Long Hospital. You can walk between the Fox and both of these. The Georgian Hotel is across the street from the Fox. There is probably a restaurant in there but I%26#39;ve never eaten there.

I will have a car. I thought it might be nice if there were a good restaurant within walking distance, but do not mind driving a little for a really good dining experience.

Baraonda is on the corner of Peachtree and Third, a short walk from the Fox. According to their Web site, you can park for free at the Georgian Terrace. They serve wood-fired pizza, pasta, etc.

I like Loca Luna. It isn%26#39;t necessarily within walking distance but fairly close. You can click on maps and directions on their website to see exactly where is in relation to the Fox.

The restaurant has a fun outdoor area to eat in. It is a Spanish tapas restaurant so you can try a variety of foods. The calamari (lula frita) is especially good. The menu is on the website too. There are nice pictures too of their patio area.

ahh the uptown peasant, what a delightful restauarnt

I think Baraonda is an excellent suggestion and it%26#39;s where I always go before the Fox. There is a restaurant called Baazzaar that is in the same building as the Fox. I had a really bad experience there once with service, and the food wasn%26#39;t anything to write home about, so I would steer clear of that.

For good pub food, The Spotted Dog is on North Avenue not far from the Fox. A couple of blocks south on Peachtree on the left is a gypsy themed restaurants, Django, where I have had several good meals. It gets more clubby at night so I wouldn%26#39;t recommend for post-show.

If you don%26#39;t mind walking about six blocks, there are some good choices. Someone has already suggested Loca Luna, which is mildly exotic, has a very diverse tapas menu ( i love the patatas bravas), and has live Latin music. I really enjoy going there. At the intersection of 5th and Juniper is a good upscale Greek restaurants named Avra, which is also next to a good southwestern restaurant called Mitra. Also on Peachtree around 7th Street is Noodle, which has Thai and Vietnamese noodle bowls.

If you go to 5th street and walk about 2 blocks west, you will find the Globe, which is a wonderful European-feeling cafe. The chef there is excellent and creative, and desserts are great.

Most of these places have websites so you can google them and see menus, photos, etc.
