la quinta inn and suites,peachtree,dunwoody

I%26#39;m not sure, but I think it is close to ';Perimeter Mall'; and the surrounding ';Mall sprawl'; are has many shops rest. bars etc.

Go to mapquest and you%26#39;ll get a better idea. Thats how I mapped out our trip to Ireland and N. Ireland.

The area around I-285 and Peachtree Dunwoody doesn%26#39;t particulary avail itself to pedestrian traffic. I checked and there are a couple of restaurants within a quarter mile, Central Park Cafe and Chin Chin V which I assume is a Chinese restaurant. Your best bet would be to drive a quarter mile south on Peachtree Dunwoody and turn left on Hammond Dr. Go about a quarter mile and that will take you to Perimeter Mall which has all sorts of shops and restaurants and the surrounding area on Ashford Dunwoody has a myriad of restaurants. One restaurant that I can recommend in the area is Villa Christina. It%26#39;s about a mile or so from the la Quinta The restaurant itself is posh, but not overly so, built in the style of a Tuscan villa, with gardens. The food is northern Italian and excellent. Go south on Peachtree Dunwoody and immediatly after passing under I-285, take a left on Lake Hearn Drive. In a quarter mile Lake Hearn splits off to the left. Keep on Perimeter Summit Pkwy. for about another quarter mile and take the next left onto Parkside Pl., then take the first left on Summit Blvd. and Villa Christina will be about 200 yards (If I remember right it%26#39;s on the left.)

Dress is casual to dressy and it rates itself as a $$$$ restaurant, so it%26#39;s not cheap.

There is not much adjacent to the hotel- a salad bar restaurant called Sweet Tomatoes, a Home Depot, a Costco. If you%26#39;re up for a 15 minute walk, you can get to Perimeter Mall, which has several restaurants.

There aren%26#39;t really many bars in that area, but the W Hotel, which is on the other side of Perimeter Mall, has a very nice bar and several of the restaurants in the area (Garrisons, Goldfish) have lively bar scenes.

Across the street from the Mall, on Ashford Dunwoody Road, there are a few restaurants - Eatzis (gourmet grocery and cafe), Houlihans, Cafe Intermezzo (desserts, sandwiches and coffee, full bar).

Also, on Perimeter Center (you%26#39;ll need to look at a map to get a feel for how to get there), about 10-15 minutes away, there is a new shopping center with a Target that has probably 15 restaurants.

Dunwoody is not a pedestrian area at all, and you%26#39;ll likely be the only person walking this suburban area, but there are tons of options in that area and you shouldn%26#39;t have to walk too far.

P.S. I own a security consulting firm and one of my accounts is very close to Villa Christina. In my review of the immediate area, to include the area of Peachtree Dunwoody, I found that the area although a residential area, is not particularly well lit at night and walking at night could be problematic. One of the first things I had my client do was upgrade his external/parking lot lighting and install cameras. While not known for violent crime, I get updates from the local precinct and property crimes in the Ashford Dunwoody/I-285/Peachtree Dunwoody corridor are pretty numerous. Predominantly it is theft from the many high rise office complexes in the area in the form of what we call office ';creepers'; who enter office buildings, maybe posing as delivery men or cleaners and look for targets of opportunity like unlocked, unoccupied offices. But there are also auto break ins in the area. Also to walk to Villa Christina or to anyplace outside of I-285 would be very hard on foot because the Peachtree Dunwoody/I-285 interchange is definitely not pedestrian friendly. I wouldn%26#39;t try it. More than any other city in the U.S. other than L.A., Atlanta is a city of cars.

When you go to LQ homepage (www.lq.com) and write down your hotel you will see pictures and hotel details and also ';whats nearby';...

I use it all the time since i%26#39;m doing bussiness with La Quinta all over the States.

There website is very useful.

Most of the hotels in that area provide courtesy transportation to nearby shopping and MARTA stations so you have access to get anywhere that MARTA goes.
