Yes, it%26#39;s a cliche, but I%26#39;ll be among 8 guys - all in mid-30%26#39;s....college buddies staying on Jekyll Island for a golf weekend (April 20-23). I know Jekyll has no bars / nightlife to speak of but I%26#39;d appreciate any recommendations on St Simons or Brunswick nighlife. Based on the website, Rafters looks good. Do SSI or Brunswick have a central area where multiple bars are within walking distance? Looking for bars rather than dance clubs - any mix of music, women, good juke boxes, pool tables, sports bars - pretty flexible as long as it%26#39;s not 100% guys or a total dive (although we%26#39;re not above that:)) since we%26#39;ll have 3 nights, seeking what options exist. Also - how much of a trek is it from Jekyll (Clarion Resort) to Brunswick? Appreciate any advice.
Night Life / Bars - St Simons / Brunswick?best martini bar on the island is j macs. too bad the deck is no longer thriving. it was an old watering hole/restaurant on the causeway inbetwen jekyl and st simons. it was once reported in the local paper that every divorce in glynn county had begun in the bar at the deck. they also featured a shore platter of seafood that would knock your socks off. now that the deck is gone i would recommend either jmacs or the blackwater grill in redfern village.
Night Life / Bars - St Simons / Brunswick?Brogens in the village has a great balcony to watch the sun go down over looking the ocean. It%26#39;s a great place to suck the aluminum off the bottom of cans of ice cold miller lite. Also Ziggy Mahonneys next to Bennie%26#39;s Red Barn offers dancing and mixes a good stiff drink. Bennie%26#39;s does too but eat a steak there, best on the island.
The Village on St. Simons is a pretty happening area. You can park and visit several bars without moving your car. Murphy%26#39;s is a good local bar with pool tables and good bartenders. J. Mac%26#39;s is upscale with good martinis and appetizers. Mullet Bay has a good yuppie local crowd at the bar. Rafters has great music and is lots of fun later in the evening. Brogen%26#39;s is good for people watching. Village Inn and Pub is a cozy little spot for conversation. Don%26#39;t get discouraged if you hit one of these places and there is nothing going on. Just go elsewhere for a while and try back later. People just go from one spot to another and things can change in a very short time. Please take my advice because I%26#39;m a professional! Jekyll is about a half hour drive from SSI.
Thanks very much for the info - just what I was looking for. Any idea how late cabs run between SSI and Jekyll?? Is there any water taxi service (wishful thinking, I know)? Want to avoid driving while we party as much as possible. Thanks again!
most people either take the hot air baloon shuttle service or sky dive in between the islands on moon lit nights.

it%26#39;s so close and such a pleasant journey some prefer to bungee jump. they are called island hoppers......
