I%26#39;m a little confused though - will the restaurants be allowed to ';sell'; beer and wine or is it just a ';pouring'; where you bring your own to the restaurants??
I%26#39;m confused now as well,I thought it meant approval of selling beer %26amp; wine.
I was looking on the NGAforum and saw something about a development project.

The more I think about it........it has to be to ';sell'; beer and wine - if I remember correctly, that Italian Restaurant (Cucina) up on the hill already allows you to brown bag right?
They were on the list of those who picked up applications so it must be to ';sell.';
Thanks for all the information - very interesting!!
Ther is no liquor involved. This proposal will do away with ';brown bagging'; The proposal is for a pouring license for beer and wine. The county commision has always had the power to put this in effect, they just did not have the ';nerve'; to do it for fear of whatever. So they had a referendum which costs the taxpayers wads of money to have a vote to allow liquor and that measure failed. Now, if nothing else gets in the way, restaraunts that meet the criteia can now sell beer and wine.
thanks for finally explaining it. before it was just as clear as dingy mud.
Cucina Rustica was granted the first pouring license in the last few weeks. El Sol Mexican near the Ingles has been approved and is waiting the final state approval before being issued the license. As of February 1, 2009.
Good news! Now you are NOT ALLOWED TO BROWN BAG! You can pay $4.00 or more for a glass of wine---that would cost $8.00 for the whole bottle.
why?
When you ';brown bag'; you buy the bottle of wine. For example, a bottle of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay costs between $10.00 and $15.00. So, if you ';brown bag'; it, you pay for the wine and a typically $2.00 ';corking fee.';
Now that the pouring licenses are in place, the restaurants tell me that ';brown bagging'; is illegal. Now they can charge upwards of $5.00 per glass for the same BOTTLE that you could buy for less than $15.00.
