little five points--how to do it?

I%26#39;ll be staying in downtown atlanta.

Question: how accessible by marta is little 5 points? and what can i expect when I step out of the station (i.e., is there stuff immediately within walking distance?) Obviously I will be there without a car, so not looking to have super stressful bus rides. My other option for the day would be to visit the jimmy carter presidential library. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

the only way i ever was able to find the jimmy carter library was to go by manuels tavern. no, not as you might think, but as a landmark. upon further reflection manuels is a great watering hole though, so stop in for lunch at least.

There is a MARTA station somewhat close to Little Five Points, but to walk from the MARTA station to L5P you would have to go through an area that is somewhat transitional, in that there are some beautiful older houses, but it borders on some more dangerous areas. In the daylight, you%26#39;d probably be ok, but it is at least half a mile walk if not more. L5P can be accessed by bus, but you would have to check with the Marta website to get the routes. I would probably just take a taxi - it would only be about $8 or so.

I agree with JAtlanta...take the cab...its cheap and quick. The Presidential Library (or at least the Jimmy Carter Center) and L5P are within the a quarter mile of each other, so you can do both if you so like. There are quite a few shops in L5P, as well as some great bars and restaurants. It
