A stop on our way home to Michigan!

We are going to Orlando and want to stop on the way home to see another area. We will only have 2 nights to stay in either St. Augustine, Savannah or Charleston. Which would be a better destination for a stop on the way home to Michigan. We%26#39;d like to see the beach but it may not be very warm. We will be there April 30th-May 2nd. What is the best place to stay reasonably priced with a 6 and 8 yr old.

Savannah and Charleston are not ';on the beach'; but are within a several mile drive of the beach. Both towns are similar as a destination. Savannah and Charleston are really more of an older adult destination in my opinion.

I would pick St Augustine, because it is richer in history (america%26#39;s first city), and is on the beach. The beach and ocean at all three cities (atlantic side) is not as pretty as the gulf coast or the miami/keys area, but the kids will enjoy it regardless. Another option you might consider is to stay in cocoa beach and drive to orlando for the amusement parks(its about 60 miles), this way you can enjoy both while there, or split your time in the two cities. The hotels/condos arent as nice in cocoa (older), but the beach is not crowded there.

At ages 6 %26amp; 8, i would just go to Disney, as Universal is really for bigger kids (they wont be able to ride many of the rides). And of course you have the NASA facilites at Cape Canaveral that kids that age would love.

The most fun thing you can do down there is to go to walmart and buy one/two crab nets and a flashlight, and let your kids chase the crabs on the beach at night. I promise it will be the best $10.00 you will ever spend. The crabs eyes glow when hit by the light, and then the chase is on.

The kids would like to play in the water. Based on that I would go to St. Augustine. The water at the beach will be warmer. All 3 cities are nice but St. Augustine has a lot of stuff that kids that age would enjoy more. They will have fun and may learn something.
