transportation to Historic district

We are planning a trip to Savannah in May but haven%26#39;t decided on the motel or hotel yet. Do motels outside of the historic district offer shuttles or is there a safe bus route? How about parking in the downtown district?

Thank you,

Stay in the Historic District. It%26#39;s definitely worth the extra expense. You can pretty much walk anywhere or you can book one of the trolley tours and get on and off when you like. I%26#39;m not sure about shuttles or bus routes, but parking can sometimes be a pain--depends on what%26#39; s going on...but Savannah is a busy place during this time of the year. Enjoy your trip! Savannnah is one of my favorite cities!

I%26#39;d like to know that also. We are just stopping for the night on the way home from FL on the first Saturday of June and I%26#39;ve already booked a room out at the airport. I would have liked to have stayed in the historic district, but for (2) rooms that would have been an extra $200 that I chose not to spend. If it would have been just me and the wife less the kids and in-laws, I would have splurged. Anyway, will there be parking available? We all can%26#39;t fit in a cab, so that%26#39;s out. Any other means? We%26#39;re just wanting to go get good meal, see the sights, and head back to the room around 10:00.

There are a number of city owned parking garages that are very reasonable. If you get out away from Bay street a little, say between Jones and Gaston, you can usually find a spot with a 3 or even 5 hour meter.

I wouldn%26#39;t worry too much about parking.

Parking is available. You can actually drive onto River Street and find a small parking lot. You might get lucky and find some available spaces in it. There are some metered cobblestone parking spaces beside Bay Street (above River Street) and metered parking is available on other streets as well. There is a parking garage near City Market and I think there is a parking lot near there as well. I apologize but I don%26#39;t remember the street names or prices. I%26#39;m sure you will find a spot somewhere if you don%26#39;t mind driving around in the district--lots of traffic, squares to go around, and some one way streets.

drive to the Tourist info center , they have a huge carpark you can park for 5 dollers all day thats what I paid last summer . It on MLK Blv .

Thank you to everyone that has answered my post. I have copied them and we will be deciding on a room today.

Thanks again.
