20 yrs old, need to rent a car April 14-16

I know that every nationwide car rental agency requires renters to be atleast 21 to rent a car. Does anybody know of a company in Savannah that would rent a car to me? If not, is it easy enough to get a taxi whenever you need one? Thanks for your help!

Sorry can%26#39;t help you on the rental car issue.

You can get taxi%26#39;s here but you have to know where to go (the Hyatt or Hilton are good spots) or just call them, I keep the number in my phone. It is certainly not like NY or DC with cabs all over though.

If you are staying downtown you can mostly walk.

Taxi service will depend on where you are staying and where you want to go. If you are in the Historic District and just want to see that area, you won%26#39;t need one except at night if you are a good distance from your room. Some of the other areas are served by the CAT bus system and shuttles.

Are you flying in? If so, the taxis are available at the airport. If you are coming in from Atlanta, perhaps you could get a car there and drive down. It%26#39;s not that bad a trip. When you count the wait at the airports, etc....it isn%26#39;t even that much longer.

Please check with a travel agent. Many national companies will indeed rent to someone under 21 - they just charge an extra surcharge each day in addition to the regular rental. Any decent travel agent will be able to help you.

I%26#39;m flying in from Raleigh, and I%26#39;m staying in a b%26amp;b near Forsyth Park. I have reservations for dinner at Vic%26#39;s on the River, and I think that would be too far of a walk. I%26#39;ve never dealt with a travel agent before, would it be expensive to talk to one to get a rental car?

Your walk to Vic%26#39;s would be about one mile. That would be either a nice long stroll or a hard walk depending on you. You certainly would want a taxi for your return to the B%26amp;B. It should be quite easy to get one.

If all you need a car for is that one trip, the taxi would be your best bet both ways. Parking in that area can be a real pain.

Would it be hard to find a taxi from the b%26amp;b? A mile wouldn%26#39;t normally be bad, but I%26#39;m pretty sure my date will be wearing high heel shoes, and I don%26#39;t imagine that being a comfortable walk for her. Thanks for the help!

Well, you would not have to ';find'; a cab, all you would do is to call from the B%26amp;B to have a pick up at the time you want. In fact, there would be no cab stands or cruising cabs that you could get in that area.

You are right, if your girl friend is wearing dress shoes, it might not be a pleasant walk. Call the cab. And have a lovely time!

Is there a Rent-a-Wreck in Savannah? They used to rent to younger drivers. I know that doesn%26#39;t sound very appealing but maybe it would be an option!

No Rent-a-wreck, nearest one appears to be in Charleston. Are travel agents expensive?

I don%26#39;t think you need to go through a travel agent--just look online or call the place directly and ask, like someone mentioned before, they usually will rent but charge an extra fee.
