5 hour transit time at Atlant Airport

I have a 5 hour layover in Atlanta from an International to a local flight and would like to take MARTA from the airport to Perimeter mall. Can it be done in the time

Would be tight. I would go to Lenox mall which would probably be closer if you tried to go anywhere. You need to allow 2 hours back at the airport. You will also need to go through customs when you arrive and that will take a while also. 5 hours isn%26#39;t long at all in Atlanta airport.

I would estimate that it%26#39;s about a 45 minute MARTA ride each way, assuming no delays. I%26#39;d want to be at the airport at least an hour before the flight, especially if you have to check in and get a boarding pass at the ticket gate. I think it can be done, but you have little room for error.

Actually, the reason i wanted to go to perimeter mall was for the Loehmanns store which i understand is the only one accessible by MARTA. Can i do a cab, about how much would it cost to go to either of the 2 Loehmanns stores in Atlanta.

The Loehmann%26#39;s near Perimeter Mall is actually a few blocks from the MARTA station, sort of in between the Perimeter and Sandy Springs Stations, so you%26#39;d still have a 5-10 minute walk from the station. A cab from the airport would probably run $50.

You can always make the decision at the last minute once you see how long it is going to take going through customs. This can be very long or very quick, depending on how many other flights are arriving at teh same time. The process is slowed down because you have to reclaim your checked luggage, have it inspected, and then check it again.

If you are changing airlines or have to go through ticketing again for any reason, that will add significant time. If you can just go through security on your return to the airport, I think an hour should be sufficient unless it%26#39;s a peak time. You can always inquire into the length of the security wait when you leave the airport.

Lenox Mall is slightly closer (2 fewer MARTA stops) but not the place for bargain shopping. There is a Filene%26#39;s basement next to Lenox though, which is similar to Loehmann%26#39;s. Atlantic Station can be reached by a shuttle from the Arts Center MARTA Station, but I%26#39;m not impressed with its stores.

In the Lenox Mall area, there may be some department store sales and, with the pound doing so well against the dollar, you may find department stores like Bloomongdales, Macy%26#39;s, Sak%26#39;s, Parisian, and Neiman Marcus to be affordable.
