Atlanta Airport-Decent non-fast food breakfast place

In my haste to find a great airfare, I now have an almost three-hour layover at the Atlanta Hartsfield Airport. Have flown thru there dozens of times, but never had this much time. Since this is the start of my 10-day vacation (to South Texas) and since I will arrive about 7:45 AM after an EARLY flight from PA, I am looking for a decent in-airport restaurant to have a NON-FAST FOOD breakfast. Some place relaxing and with good coffee would be great! Any ideas?????

That is a good question. Personally, I don%26#39;t know of one. Perhaps the other locals can answer because I would like to go there too. We have discussed airport food before. I believe the consensus is that there really is not a special place at the Atlanta airport.

My experience has always been bad or mediocre food with indifferent service.

Not to hijack your thread but, besides answering this question, could anyone tell me of any exceptional airport food they have had anywhere? I cannot think of any from any of my travels. I can think of several bad experiences.

Here is a past discussion about Hartsfield airport restaurants.

I agree that there%26#39;s nothing decent at the airport. I always just go to Starbucks for the same pumpkin scone and capucchino.

starbucks is about as far as i%26#39;ve venture too. the only good airport food i can recall was at o%26#39;hare at a wolfgang pucks. nothing 4 star about that either but in all fairness it was about 10 times as good as any other sandwich i had ever had in any other airport.

Oddly, Cincinnati has some decent restaurants.

Both Houlihan%26#39;s which is upstairs at the atrium and Paschal%26#39;s downstairs at the atrium food court are open for breakfast at that time. Even though Paschal%26#39;s could be considered fast food, they serve a traditional southern breakfast, that is actually quite tasty. Houlihan%26#39;s makes a mean Eggs Benedict with hashbrowns and french toast.

Thanks all! Guess I will check out Paschal%26#39;s or Houlihan%26#39;s. Very weary of Fourbucks (Starbucks) (:-)

Please report back how your breakfast was-the price and the service.

Don%26#39;t know if Atlanta Bread Company counts as fast food for you, but there%26#39;s one in the Atrium area next to the Houlihan%26#39;s mentioned earlier. It%26#39;s open 24 hours. It%26#39;s still a counter-service, take-it-to-the-table-yourself place, but it has it%26#39;s own seating area as opposed to the common food-court style seating across the way at Paschal%26#39;s/Wendy%26#39;s/Domino%26#39;s. It does get pretty crowded that time of day. Paschal%26#39;s also serves breakfast, and the food%26#39;s good, but the rest of the dining experience there is strictly food-court.

To get to the Atrium area, you do have to exit the secured area and go through security again to get back to your gate, so don%26#39;t go there unless you%26#39;re sure you%26#39;ve got your boarding pass on you and have enough time to deal with a wait of up to 15-20 minutes at that time of day, though it usually takes less.

You can see for yourself what%26#39;s in the airport at http://www.atlanta-airport.com; click on the ';Shops and Restaurants'; link, and then select ';Food and Beverage'; from the popup menu on the right and the concourse you%26#39;re interested in to see what%26#39;s there. Concourses A %26amp; B are all Delta. C is mostly AirTran, as well as a handful of other airlines, and D is almost everything else, including a few more Delta gates. The T concourse is mostly American and Delta. I can%26#39;t unreservedly recommend any place in the airport based on your criteria, but if you can tell us which airline(s) you%26#39;re flying in and out on, I might be able to steer you to the best of the convenient options (I fly from or to Hartsfield nearly 100 times/year).
