Going FROM Alanta to Savannah

We%26#39;re going up to Atlanta in a couple of weeks. It%26#39;s a nice time of year to travel. So we were thinking about taking our time coming back to Savannah.

Anyone have any suggestions? We%26#39;re thinking about Callaway Gardens or maybe going over towards Myrtle Beach and checking out Brookgreen Gardens again (LOVE that place!!)

Surely there%26#39;s somewhere else in below Atlanta that might be worth stopping for a few hours or a day. But at the momment, I can%26#39;t think of any. Any ideas??

I just bumped the State Parks and other suggestions thread up for you. It seems like there were several suggestions that might fit your requirements. Please let us know what you end up doing.

Going FROM Alanta to Savannah

Thanks!! It reminded me that I wanted to see the Oakland Cemetery while I was in Atlanta. We have already planned on the Aquarium (of course!) and the Carlos Museum at Emory. That%26#39;s going to take up two days.

I%26#39;ve got to eliminate anything that consists of walking/hiking around woods and trails. And, having lived in Savannah since the first eon, seeing old homes and history doesn%26#39;t do much for me. I%26#39;m sure you can understand why.

I am sort of leaning toward Callaway Gardens as I think I read where they had enlarged the Butterfly House. Is there anything right in that area that%26#39;s unusual?

I personally don%26#39;t know much about the area but I have a friend from Columbus. I will ask her what she recommends.

I do remember that Warm Springs isn%26#39;t very far away. I went there for a graduation trip along with Callaway Gardens many years ago.

Please go to Oakland Cemetery. I am still waiting for eight of the best photos I took to be posted. I fell in love that that place.

Callaway Gardens is stunning this time of year. And the Little White House (retreat of FDR and where he died) is not far away in Warm Springs. They recently expanded and opened their new museum. It%26#39;s well worth a visit.

My mother and cousins visited the LWH this week and then had lunch at the Bulloch House (Southern style buffet). My Ohio cousins loved the food, especially the strawberry shortcake.

If you do a search on Warm Springs on here, you can read more in past threads.
