Hi, I will be in town for a conference next week. I have a hotel on Peachtree and believe I can take MARTA from there to the conference centre? I was going to take a taxi from the airport to the hotel, then MARTA to the GWCC. I have to go to Tucker, what is the best mode of transporation? Should I just rent a car at the airport when I land and keep it for the 3 days I am there? Can I rent a car for part of a day to go to Tucker? Thanks!
How To Get From GWCC to Tucker? Taxi? Car Rental? If you have a hotel on Peachtree and are planning to take MARTA to the GWCC for the conference, then it%26#39;s probably not worthwhile to pay for a rental car for the whole time -- there%26#39;s a good chance you%26#39;d have to pay for parking at the hotel also. There are plenty of hotel-based and storefront car rental locations around town, and Enterprise in particular offers pick-up/drop-off service (they come get you, take you to their location, arrange the rental, and then drop you off after you return the car). They also generally offer very competitive rates and typically have excellent customer service. I%26#39;d just arrange for a rental for the day/time you actually need it to get to Tucker. The one potential drawback is that Enterprise (and most of the other off-airport car rental locations) has more limited hours, particularly on weekends, and a return after hours means you pay until the next day, and of course if you need drop-off service that wouldn%26#39;t be available after hours.
There%26#39;s no way a taxi would be a better option than a rental car, however -- cab fare one way would likely be comparable to what you%26#39;ll pay to rent a car, and getting a cab back to downtown from the %26#39;burbs can be an adventure -- the in-town companies generally don%26#39;t pick up outside of the city proper, and the suburban-based companies tend to be smaller, less reliable, and charge different rates.
Depending on the part of Tucker you%26#39;re headed to, there are ways of getting there on public transportation, but none I%26#39;d recommend -- it%26#39;d take forever, and there%26#39;s a significant risk of getting confused about the combinations of trains and buses you%26#39;d likely have to deal with.
How To Get From GWCC to Tucker? Taxi? Car Rental? If you are just going to tucker once, I would take a cab, but ask at the time of booking if they will take you back to atlanta. Keep their phone number and call them for the return trip. Although it will be expensive, it will be less expensive than 3 days of car rental, gas, and parking fees. Tucker really isnt that far from atlanta (maybe 15-20 miles from downtown if you took EPDL to Scott to Lawerenceville Hwy) so I dont think you will have a problem getting a cab.
I recommend renting a car just for the day you need to go to Tucker. There are plenty of car rental facilities in the city near MARTA stations, or you can use Enterprise, which will pick you up. It is cheaper to rent a car from an in-town location than an airport location.
Also, you should just take MARTA to your hotel, it%26#39;s cheaper than a taxi and very easy.
