Savannah or Charleston? 1 Day Only

We will be driving down to Florida in mid-June and are planning to spend a day in either city. We really enjoy history things and it appears both cities have a lot to offer. In the past we have been to St Augustine and really enjoyed that experience and both cities sound comparable. Can anybody explain the differences between the two cities and describe what they have to offer? I realize that I may be getting biased opinions in this forum so I have also submitted the same question in the Charleston forum.

Thanks for your help.

Savannah or Charleston? 1 Day Only

HOw about the opinion of a Yankee who spent time in both last April? Both are very similar but overall we found Savannah to have more streets to walk around on, a much more accessible public beach (on Tybee Island), less congestion and awareness of highways, and a bit more affordable restaurants.
