We%26#39;re thinking about Savannah for our babymoon--last long weekend alone before baby. I%26#39;ll be about 7 months along.
It%26#39;s our first time visiting so we%26#39;d appreciate any advice.
First and foremost, what part of town would you recommend that we stay. Any recommended properties?
Welcome ideas for things to see, tours to take and restaurants.
We will likely be driving in from Atlanta...unless we see a crazy airfare sale.
Thanks so much!
Babymoon for Memorial Day weekend - Ideas pleaseRight downtown, in the Historic District is the best place to stay. That allows you to walk to restaurants and the sites. You don%26#39;t have to drive all weekend.
It is always a good idea to take a trolley tour first, that gives you an overview of the city and it%26#39;s history. If you see places that interest you, hop off and look around then hop back on.
That requires on/off privileges on the trolley, be sure to get that. That is also nice because you can use the trolley as a shuttle all day.
The Telfair museum has a nice permanent collection and usually a couple good rotating shows. They also own a restored ante-bellum house, you can get a package ticket and it is worth the money if the visiting collections are of interest to you.
Babymoon for Memorial Day weekend - Ideas pleaseThanks for the thoughts! I like the idea of the Trolley tour. I also read that there are carriage rides and pedi cabs so I%26#39;m sure I will appreciate the various transport avail when I tire from walking.
Another question--can anyone advise what part of the historic is best to stay in and if you know what hotels offer a balcony. I think we%26#39;ll be spending a little extra time in the room so I%26#39;d still like to be able to enjoy the outdoors and relaxing in privacy.
Thank you!
I would try the Marriott and the Westin, both have balconies on the river side of the hotel.
The Westin is across the river but it just adds another fun transportation mode, the free ferries.
The Marshall House has a big porch overlooking Broughton Street which would be fun.
The Hilton also has balconies over Liberty street.
All are in the historic district which is only a mile square so all are pretty central.
Congratulations on the new arrival... as an expecting mom myself I would also suggest a prenatal massage at Vanilla Day Spa (they are WONDERFUL!) and maybe a pedicure.
If you like BBQ (something I have been craving quite a bit) the pull pork from Angel%26#39;s BBQ is the best!
As Brian O said I would recommend the Historic District also.
