Taxi Costs

A taxi from the airport to midtown is $32. MARTA is $1.75, and usually is faster. It is extremely easy to take MARTA. Every train leaving the airport goes to midtown. All you have to do is get on the first train you see. Each train car has a map, and each station is announced and has a lot of signage telling you where you are. It%26#39;s really nothing to be intimidated by. Look at www.itsmarta.com

Where are you staying? I can tell you the nearest station if you%26#39;ll tell which hotel. Also, just look at your hotel location on Google maps and you%26#39;ll see its proximity to MARTA.

A taxi from midtown to Norcross is going to cost around $40 plus tip each way, depending on where in Norcross you%26#39;re going. You will have to arrange the return trip beforehand, as you won%26#39;t be able to just hail taxis on the street in Norcross.

If I were you I would just rent a car, unless driving n the other side of the street intimidates you. You may be able to take a bus, and we can help you with logistics on that if it interests you. Just a point on lexicon: here, we say ';rent'; a car when you%26#39;re going to be doing the driving yourself on a borrowed car, and ';hire'; a car when you are actually paying a professional driver to take you around.

Taxi Costs

Flat rate from the airport to any business destination in the Midtown flat fare zone is $32, plus $2 for each additional passenger.

The MARTA rail line from the airport to any of the Midtown stations (North Avenue, Midtown, Arts Center) is quite safe and at least as reliable as a cab. The station is inside the terminal at the airport. If you care to share your destination in Midtown we can readily tell you which station to use and how to get from there to your destination. Even if you have to get a cab from the MARTA station for the last bit of the trip it%26#39;ll still be much cheaper.

Taxi from Midtown to Norcross area would be at least $60-$70, depending on your actual point of departure and your destination. (Midtown MARTA station to downtown Norcross is 17 miles. Taxi rate is $4 mile after the first mile, $4.25 for the first mile. 4 X 16 = $64 + $4.25 = $68.25, plus tip.) And then you have to get back. I%26#39;d definitely rent a car if that%26#39;s an option for you. No question it%26#39;ll be cheaper, particularly if you use an off-airport car rental location.

Hi guys

thansk so much foir your help. I think I%26#39;ll take the Marta then. I am staying at Hotel Midtown...(you may remember my posts before about GT not having the right rooms left, and so i chose that one and then was advised it had bad write ups but decided to stick with it)

Taxi to Norcross is quite dear but the problem with ';renting'; a car is that my license is in tatters like the dog ate it or something so wasnt sure it would be accepted anyway..I%26#39;m fine with driving on the other side as all of europe drive on the wrong side (joke) as well...and in fact would find it good fun :)

unless of course you guys want to do it for $50 return ?? lol seriously though i hate paying taxi drivers over the odds...but i guess i wont have a choice! plus i%26#39;d probably have to pay extra for the hotel parking?

got a bit of work to do on the thursday and then a few free days to find out what atlanta has to offer!

all the best

Hotel Midtown is right near...wait for it... the Midtown MARTA station. That will be easy to remember. When you exit the station you should be on 10th St. You%26#39;ll take a right, cross Peachtree, and your hotel will be right in front of you. Couldn%26#39;t be easier.

wow, think i am going to rent a car now...i can get one for 4 days for about $140 and even with the $15 per day charge for hotel parking it still works out really cheap as i may need to do the norcross trip twice

with this in mind can anyone give me some directions from the airport to Hotel Midtwon?

My best advice would be to print out a map from Google maps. However, it%26#39;s quite easy to get to the hotel from the airport.

From the airport, follow the signs towards Interstate 75/85 North. It%26#39;s very well marked. You will take 75/85 northbound, 10.7 miles into the city. Get off at Exit 250, which is 10th/14th St. From the exit ramp, take a right onto 10th St. You will go go about 4 blocks, crossing Sprint St, West Peachtree, Crescent Ave, then a major intersection with Peachtree St. Then you will see the hotel just ahead on your right. There is a curved driveway in front of the hotel that leads to the parking garage. The hotel is very prominent, and has large signage. It is easy to find.

thats great thanks for that. still undecided on renting though.

i am happy to get the marta to midtown but what about the bus service to norcross area?

is it frequent/safe etc..

i am going to :-

Shackleford Court

Atlanta, GA 30093

is it easy ?

thanks again

steve

It%26#39;s safe enough, but there%26#39;s no easy, convenient, or frequent way to get to any part of Gwinnett County (where Norcross is located) from Downtown or Midtown Atlanta by bus. The best option would involve taking the MARTA Northeast rail line out to Doraville, catching the Gwinnett Transit Route 10 bus there, and changing buses in downtown Norcross to the Gwinnett Transit Route 30 bus, which again would leave you 1/4 mile from Shackleford Court. Train time from Midtown to Doraville is about 20 minutes. Time for the buses, including waiting time, would be a bit over an hour. Best case, given time to wait for the train also, is that it%26#39;d take you an hour and 45 minutes to two hours. Transfers between GCT and MARTA are free, so you%26#39;d pay the MARTA fare ($1.75) outbound and the GCT fare ($2) inbound. But I don%26#39;t recommend it.

You%26#39;d be better off just renting a car for the single days you%26#39;d need it to get to Norcross, even if you have to deal with picking up and returning the car twice.
